Musical Text Work

The project Musikalsk Tekstarbejde (Musical Text Work) aims to investigate whether, with the aid of a conceptual framework from the musical world, it is possible to improve the ability to read, understand and interpret both spoken texts and texts set to music. Via workshops and artistic experiments, the project will explore and challenge the traditional rehearsal and interpretation practices of classical singing.

At an overall level, the project has two tracks: 1) A series of workshops in which studies will be conducted in co-operation with students and invited external consultants, and 2) a collaboration with a composer and the Figura ensemble to compose and perform a new work on the basis of the project’s fundamental methodological approach: the musical text work.
