Program Activities Autumn 2021

Knowledge in the Arts Lecture Series

30.9, 29.10, 24.11, 3-5pm. Live at the institutions & online

In spring 2021, the International Center for Knowledge in the Arts, launched its new lecture series, Knowledge in the Arts. The focus is on transdisciplinary themes and current debates in Artistic Research, both within the Center institutions and in relation to artistic research’s wider relevance in society. The lectures are mainly given by artists with a research-oriented practice, but also by other voices, relevant to the knowledge of art. This series features speakers and topics that will be of interest across the center’s institutions as well as for a wider public.

30.9: Erik Gandini & Jyoti Mistry at the The Danish National Film School.
29.10: Angela Melitopoulos (part of the symposium, see below) at the The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.

24.11: tba.

Artistic Research Forum, Denmark

29.9, 23.11 and 15.12, 3-5pm

The Artistic Research Forum is a monthly event featuring presentations of and feedback on artistic research projects from practitioners at the Center’s institutions. The goal is to work across all the institutions and create a transdisciplinary forum for constructive discussion and support of ongoing as well as completed projects.

The program details are shared internally and participation is primarily for the staff and students at the Danish higher art education institutions although we welcome external artist-researchers to listen in. Please write to info@artisticresearch.dk in case you are interested in more information on how to participate.

28.10 – 29.10 ‘Not only’ a symposium on Artistic Research

10 pm. – 5.30 pm, The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts & online

The symposium sets out to explore artistic research as an inherently multiplicous activity that spawns actions, reactions and relations that are always never only art or research. With the aid of anthropologist Marisol de la Cadena’s conceptual toolbox, we are interested in the excess of artistic research, the space of the “not only”, where, as she maintains, separate identities are suspended by relational human-non-human modes of being within “ecologies of practice”.

With: Thommy Andersson, Maibritt Borgen, Jane Jin Kaisen, Angela Melitopoulos, Vytautas Michelkevičius, Rasmus Ölme among others.

The symposium will take place physically at the Schools of Visual Art, The Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and be streamed online.

Full program and registration will be announced here soon.
